News and Updates
from the Waterbury/Duxbury
Technology Department
(Updated October 13th)
Phew! Portable labs are now running in both schools, although we are experiencing some
issues with the wireless on the new Windows laptops at CBMS. Most are connecting properly, btu some have been pulled out so carts may not be complete. Most CBMS Teacher computers have been upgraded at this point, which includes the "retirement" of the classroom Dells. The remaining staff computers in both buildings will be upgraded in the coming weeks.
Unfortunately the installation of a new server environment at CBMS has been delyaed until Thanksgiving.
LCD projectors and document cameras have arrived and we are beginning installation in rooms that are physically ready or where equipment has been previously used.
Our Technology Department includes two full-time staff members. Eric Hall, our Technology Coordinator, is the main "point of contact" for all tech requests and handles user needs including application training, collaborative planning, 1:1 professional development, classroom and lab support. Support and appointments can be arranged Mon/Weds at Crossett Brook and Tues/Thurs at Thatcher Brook. Fridays are split between the two schools as needed. Our Technology Assistant Keith Puffer is responsible for hardware, software, and network maintenance as well as installation and upgrades. Please contact Eric to get your maintenance requests "on the list." We do our best to address requests as soon as possible, and it works better for us if we have one point of contact.
